Policies
Starting therapy is an important step, and I want you to feel clear and comfortable about how we’ll work together. Please take a moment to review these policies before beginning therapy—they’re here to protect your privacy, set respectful boundaries, and make sure our time together is as supportive as possible.
Confidentiality Policy
Your privacy matters. Everything you share in therapy is kept confidential.
However, there are a few limits to confidentiality as required by law:
- If there is risk of harm to yourself or others
- If there is suspicion of child abuse or neglect
- If your records are subpoenaed by a court of law
Outside of these circumstances, your sessions remain strictly private.
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
- A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.
- Late cancellations or missed sessions will be charged 50% of the session fee.
- This policy allows me to hold your spot and also respect the time of other clients who may be waiting.
Fees & Payment Policy
- Individual Therapy: $70 per 50-minute session
- Couples Therapy: $100 per 50-minute session
- Payment is due at the time of session, via e-transfer (or other accepted methods).
- A receipt will be provided after each session for your records.
Insurance & Receipts
At this time, sessions are private pay only. I do not bill insurance directly.
However, many extended health insurance plans in Ontario cover services offered by a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). If your plan does, you may submit the receipt I provide for reimbursement.
Virtual Therapy Policy
All sessions are currently offered virtually across Ontario.
To get the most out of your session, please:
- Find a private, quiet space where you feel comfortable speaking openly
- Use headphones if possible for added privacy
- Ensure your device has a stable internet connection
Sessions are conducted using secure video platforms to protect your confidentiality.
Eligibility Policy
Services are available to adults 16 years and older (individuals and couples).
At this time, I do not provide crisis intervention, psychiatric diagnosis, or medication management.
Code of Conduct / Respect Policy
Therapy is a collaborative, respectful space. I ask that clients:
- Arrive on time and ready for their session
- Communicate respectfully and honestly
- Avoid attending sessions under the influence of alcohol or drugs
I reserve the right to discontinue therapy if a client engages in abusive, threatening, or disrespectful behaviour.
Record Keeping Policy
As required by professional regulations, I keep brief session notes and records. These are:
- Stored securely and confidentially
- Accessible only to me as your therapist
- Retained in accordance with CRPO standards
Clients may request access to their records in writing.
Communication Policy
Email, text, or phone may be used for scheduling and logistical matters only. To protect your privacy, I do not conduct therapy over email or text. If you have therapeutic concerns, please bring them to your scheduled session.
Emergency & Crisis Policy
Please note that I am not a crisis service and cannot provide 24/7 support.
If you are in crisis, please call 911, 988 (Talk Suicide Canada), or your local crisis line immediately. You may also visit your nearest emergency department for urgent support.
